Mining Controls PMC-R is a control unit of Caterpillar products that acts as a distributed intelligent control system installed on each Roof Support. The safe application of the PMC-R system on sliding surfaces or plows can interactively perform two functions, namely automatic and single protective functions. The automatic function on long walls is provided by PMC-R ranging from intermediate to high level. Automation is also applied to the block holder, sliding canopy, fins, to the water spray function and many other automation modes, especially on the steering cylinder. The operating system used by the PMC-R, namely the integrated ITRON RTOS, can operate very well, equipped with a complete processor and supporting RAM memory, such as the 16Bit TMP91CW12AF microcontroller, 2 Mbytes of Static CMOS RAM, and so on. In addition to acting as a control system, the PMC-R also has other roles simultaneously, namely being able to display all protective functions. In controlling the protective function, this PMC-R system can operate with an impact on the network in each individual. Meanwhile, features that support the display of protective functions are carried out simultaneously with the operator and heavy equipment (HMI) interface. In this PMC-R system there is also a hydraulic function that is run by a solenoid driver for protection that is equipped with a set of peripheral components. Rated IP 68, this PMC-R system has three separate solenoid driver modules equipped with a solenoid driver board in each Roof Support which can provide sensors on pressure and forward motion for the shield. This solenoid driver is also one of the main features of the PMC-R system whose presence and performance results are very important, especially some of its sensors that carry out diagnosis through communication between control systems. In addition, the solenoid driver has a lot of excellent support tools such as an IR sensor, a 3D tilt sensor with adjustable monitor tilt, and dual solenoid valves. Even as many as 22 valves in this system can be activated by a solenoid driver module with all types of connectors, namely OS4. In addition, the modular concept can also be used for sound modules and other additional sensors.
